Dr. Francisco Alvarado, PhD, Named Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine

Dr. Francisco Alvarado, PhD

We are pleased to announce that Francisco “Fran” Alvarado has been appointed tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and will join the CVRC as Core Faculty and trainer! Fran earned a PharmD degree from the University of Costa Rica in 2009 and then joined Héctor Valdivia’s laboratory to earn a PhD degree in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan. He joined the University of Wisconsin as postdoctoral fellow in 2017 and quickly raised through the ranks until his present appointment. Francisco holds a Career Development Award from the American Heart Association and is P.I. on a R01 grant from the NIH to study Pathogenic Mechanisms of Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy.
