I am a physician scientist with a clinical specialization in Neonatology and a Developmental Biologist studying cardiac development. Scientifically I enjoy thinking about how environmental factors influence epigenetic regulation of cardiac development and its relationship to human health.
I am actually a Madison native but have been all over the country for the past 20 years, so it’s nice to be able to finally return home! I went to Harvard for college, where I studied Chemistry, followed by studying medicine at University of Chicago. I got my PhD in Cell Biology at Yale University working with Dr. Michael Caplan. I obtained my clinical training in Pediatrics at Washington University at St. Louis and in Neonatology at University of California, San Francisco. While at UCSF, I also received my postdoctoral training in the lab of Dr. Benoit Bruneau.
When not thinking about neonates, single-cell analyses, and cardiomyocytes, I enjoy doing various outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and always seem to be re-learning how to ski! My newest hobby is raising two little boys, who always seem to be moving in different directions! I very much look forward to introducing them to my favorite places growing up!
