Enson Zheng

Enson is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Molecular & Cell Biology with a Biology in Engineering certificate. Since joining Kamp Lab in June 2024, he has been working under Dr. Jianhua Zhang on development of the chamber-specific cardiomyocyte differentiation from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). His research interests are in cardiac development, disease modeling, and regenerative medicine using hPSC model. His current work investigates how to engineer defined and tunable PEG-based hydrogel microenvironments to better support iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte differentiation, with the long-term goal of mapping the microenvironmental design space that guides heart development and influences cardiac disease phenotypes. In his free time, Enson enjoys working on robotics, artificial intelligence, and sightseeing. In the future, he hopes to further study the mechanisms underlying congenital and inherited heart disease and contribute to the development of regenerative and translational therapies of the heart.
